Springtime Birthday Card!

Here is an extremely easy card that could be switched up for many different occasions. I happened to use it as a birthday card.  With the exception of the "Happy Birthday" sentiment and the Stickles  everything used to make this card was from Stampin' Up!

Quick Birthday Card

As it seems these days, I am always behind on my card making.  My oldest niece turned 19 this April.   I found myself running out of time to make the card before the family got together to celebrate, so I threw this together using the following supplies:
Cardstock:
Stampin' Up! - Calypso Coral
Georgia Pacific - Bright White
Stamps:
Papertrey Ink - Dot Spot
Close to My Heart - Connections
Unknown -  happy birthday sentiment
Stampin' Up! - God's Blessings (inside sentiment; not shown)
Embellishments:
Offray - 1 1/2" Black Satin ribbon
Stickles - Star Dust

Manly Birthday Card

This card was so quick and simple to make!  I actually modeled it after a pair of swimming trunks of my husby's.  I loved the color combo and thought it would make a great card for a man (something I frequently struggle with).  The paper is all SU! paper.  I used versamark and white embossing powder for the happy birthday sentiment (don't know the stamp maker).  I embellished with a piece of ribbon and 3 blue Jolee's Swarovski hotfix gems.  That's it!  Simple, right?!

Welcome to the world Hunter!

A very good friend of mine's daughter had her first child and since her daughter has a special place in my heart I wanted to make her something special.  I had seen some really cool ideas on Pinterest and decided to combine the two and make this:

I purchased a set of four 6 x 6 canvas frames and chose four pictures from the newborn session photos taken by the baby's other grandmother (who is an amazingly talented photographer!). I printed the photos onto tissue paper, applied a layer of Mod Podge to the blank canvas, applied the tissue paper and aonther layer of Mod Podge. I didn't worry about the bumps, ripples and small tears in the tissue paper because I wanted it to have a hint of a vintage/distressed look. I painted the sides with black acrylic paint hitting the edges ever so lightly to maintain the integrity of the look I was going for. I allowed that to dry for 48 hours and cut some vinyl lettering using my Silhouette Cameo (font used is Typewriter), applied it using clear contact paper to ensure it was centered and applied another layer of Mod Podge. It was so easy and I totally love how they turned out. I can't wait to give them to her; I just hope she likes them as much as I do, hahaha!!

I gave her this card a couple of weeks ago since I wasn't sure how long it was going to take me to get the present done. I made the card with my Cricut and used Nate's ABC's (dog, ball, wagon), 3 Birds - Life's a Party (giraffe), Simply Sweet ("baby boy"), 3 Birds - Straight from the Nest ("welcome" - I cut off to the nest). The inside sentiment was stamped using Stampin' Up's stamp set titled God's Blessings and it read "A baby is a gift from heaven above - bringing joy down to earth, filling hearts full of love." I used Silver Liquid Pearls for the wagon wheels, striping and handle. I used Cinnamon Stickles for the giraffe eyes and nostrils as well as the dog's nose.

Oh My Gosh...What Have I Done?!

I have been a loyal Provo Craft customer over the last several years. I do love their products, but I have grown rather frustrated with them over the last year. I have been seeing a lot of people move to the Silhouette Cameo and they seem to rave about it. Well, for whatever reason I decided to just do a search on it today and darn if I didn't find a deal I couldn't pass up!!! I found it on Overstock.com (see pics)...

Would you be able to pass up this deal? I mean look at all those bonus items!  The additional $25 card alone made it worth it.  So, I guess I need to start watching videos on how to use it, LOL!  I know Jin from Under a Cherry Tree does some, so I will be visiting her blog a lot real soon.  Do any of you have any other blog suggestions to help me learn the Silhouette?

Oh, I do already own the MTC program (had it pre PC/MTC lawsuit).

Totally scraplifted Christmas Card

I know, I know, it has been a REALLY long time since I last posted.  I haven't forgotten my hobby...I long for it all the time, but life just gets in the way sometimes!

I really wanted to test adding a pin it button to my blog so I was looking for something I could post, when I remember this beauty of a card that I made for Christmas last year.  I cannot take credit for the design of this beautiful Christmas card, only for making it myself.  This creation is from one of the uber talented ladies that design for Papertrey Ink.  The stamps used are all from the Nativity Silhouettes stamp set.  I used Art Philosophy for the notched edge layered cuts.  Enjoy, and if you like it Pin it!!
